SP Meena to probe alleged swindling of Srividya assets

Mr Meena said his team would look into all aspects of Mr Raman's complaints

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has entrusted Crime Branch SP in charge of organised crime wing, Rajpal Meena, to probe the alleged misappropriation of the late actor Srividya’s assets by KC (B) legislator K B Ganesh Kumar.

Her brother, M L V Sankar Raman had met Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and home minister Ramesh Chennithala last month with the complaint which was forwarded to the then DGP K. S. Balasubramanian who ordered a CB investigation on 23 May.

Mr Meena said his team would look into all aspects of Mr Raman's complaints. “There are many things which have to be probed. We have to first see what Sankar Raman has got to say about the non-execution of (her) will. The enquiry will be conducted smoothly and the law will take its own course,” he told DC.

Mr Raman, 63, in his petition, had alleged that Mr. Kumar had possessed the assets and properties of his sister running into crores of rupees.

He also alleged that Mr Kumar never executed the will made before her death nine years ago.

Accordingly, various properties, including flats and a house, in Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram as well as life insurance policies, car and land belonging to the actor were being used by Mr Kumar.

As the only brother of Srividya, Sankar Raman wanted a detailed probe on the original will which he feared was forcibly written before his sister died of spinal cancer.
