For Neena Gupta, this has been a week of celebrations. After her daughter Masaba wed Madhu Mantena on Tuesday, Neena celebrated her 60th birthday yesterday.
When we spoke to her, the senior actress and elated mother said, “With my daughter getting married, everything will change for me for sure and it will change for good. But I’m not feeling sad at all. I will be alone, but it’s okay.
Masaba and I would spend lot of time together. Now I will spend more time with my husband, travel with him; visit my big family in Delhi. I will travel with my friends more often to places like Goa and hill stations. I’m happy that Masaba is not going too far away. She will be in Mumbai and also quite close to my house in the suburbs.”
“Frankly this whole marriage hasn’t sunk in yet. There is no time to feel and I don’t know what to feel. Today (June 4) is my birthday and I’m busy with it. It’s my day. Masaba is also very busy as she is flying for an awards function tonight. Last night she was in Delhi because her stuff is still lying here. She has not yet shifted to Mumbai. I will meet her when she comes back home. Ask me after three to four days when the marriage bit actually sinks in. The last few days have been very hectic for us.”
“The main thing — their traditional shaadi — is planned for November and it could happen in Goa or Mussourie. Masaba and Madhu are not able to make up their minds on the location. That’s the reason I told them to get the relationship formalised in a court first. But a big reception is definitely on in Mumbai. I haven’t called any of my friends so far, even this court shaadi was just a family thing.”
