New shooting range for Sivaganga

June 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - Sivaganga:

The Sivaganga district police need not go all the way to Madurai or Pudukottai district for shooting practice hereafter as they have got their own shooting range.

Superintendent of police M. Durai inaugurated the new shooting range facility established in a 14.5-acre site at Kanapathypatti in Tirupattur taluk on Wednesday.

Police personnel could commence shooting practice on Thursday, the SP said after inaugurating the facility.

Since it came into existence in March, 1985 after being carved out from Ramanathapuram district, Sivaganga never had a shooting range and the police personnel were going all the way to Madurai or Keeranur in Pudukottai district for the yearly practice sessions, he said.
