Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi was a precious jewel for the nation said Vijayendra Saraswathi, pontiff of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, at the 122nd Jayanthi celebration held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore, on Tuesday.

Talking about the various religious and social welfare activities initiated by the 68th Sankaracharya of the peetam for preserving culture, Vijayendra Saraswathi praised the ability of Chandrasekharendra Swamigal to attract the attention of even atheists. Describing the Acharya giving up food on Sundays for the cause of religious unity, Vijayendra Saraswathi said the acharya lived a simple and frugal life.

Vijayendra Saraswathi also released a book ‘Sri Maha Swamigal Arulurai’ at the Jayanthi celebration organised by Veda Pata Nidhi Trust. The book gives insights into the teachings of Chandrasekharendra Swamigal. Former Attorney General K. Parasaran received the book. Tamil exponent Sudha Seshayyan also spoke.
