The Chinese smartphone brands are making a beeline for India. The latest entrant is Phicomm, which has now launched its Passion 660 smartphone in India exclusively on Amazon at Rs 10,999. The phone will be available for purchase from June 9, but it is not sure if they will follow a flash sale model.
First look: Phicomm Passion 660 launched in India
The Passion P660 sports a 5-inch IPS full HD (1080p) LCD display with 441 ppi density. It has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. The device runs on a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB storage space.
Phicomm is also promising Pan-India service system with dedicated call centres. It will also have exclusive care centres in main cities soon.

Phicomm CEO Zheng Min said it is among the few companies that does all parts of a smartphone itself and the vision was a to set up this end-to-end ecosystem in India as well to cater to the growing demanding from South Asia. He added that it is not that easy for other companies to set up this ecosystem and that they would like to bring this set-up to India. “We think it is possible if the supply chain environment and labour policies are good. And we have seen this improve in the past couple of years,” he told IndianExpress.com.
Global sales head Jaffery Fan the company has a clear strategy of balancing its revenue from China and overseas in the long run. “Manufacturing in India will help us achieve that goal. We will have devices only in the mid-high range,” he said, adding that Phicomm does not want to enter the entry level market in India.
While the company does not have a timeline on setting up its on manufacturing unit in India, Fan said they were also open to partnerships with Indian companies.
Phicomm says the Passion 660 is among the lightest smartphones available as it weighs 110 gms only. It supports 4G networks and is powered by a 2,300 mAh battery and runs on Android KitKat OS.
