Upper Assam districts fare well in HSLC exam
Jorhat: In the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination that were declared on Tuesday, Jorhat, Golaghat and Sivasagar districts recorded pass percentages of 68.87, 66.85 and 70.26, respectively.
In Jorhat, 10,645 students passed out of 15,456 who took the exam this year. Among the successful candidates, 3,095 got first division, 4,525 got second division and 3,025 got third division.

of St Antony’s High School, Mariani, is the only rank-holder from the district. She secured the 10th position (among the top ten candidates), scoring 577.
Inspector of schools (Jorhat) Hiren Gogoi said, “Jorhat has come 8th in terms of overall pass percentage in the state. In our district, the number of first-division holders is more than the number of third-division holders.”
In Golaghat, two students — Pratisuriti Saikia of Sungajan High School and Aneswa Bharali of Khrist Jyoti High School, Bokakhat — secured a place among the top ten. Pratisruti came 7th, scoring 580, and Aneswa came 9th , with 578.
Inspector of schools (Golaghat) Subhalaxmi Rajkumari said, “Of 15,317 candidates who took the exam, 10,240 passed. The overall pass percentage in the district is 66.85.”
Ritish Konwar of Nazira Higher Secondary School is the only rank-holder from Sivasagar. He came 10th, scoring 577.
An official from the office of the inspector of schools, Sivasagar, said, of 15,604 candidates, 10,964 passed the examination. The district’s pass percentage is 70.26. Among the successful candidates, 2,997 got first division, 4,477 got second division and 3,490 got third division in Sivasagar.
