CPI’s protest creates mild tension

Mild tension prevailed in front of the police headquarters in Karimnagar on Tuesday when the Communist Party of India (CPI) Karimnagar district unit activists tried to enter into the premises to represent Minister for Finance Etala Rajender about the neglect of Telangana armed struggle leaders during the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations.

The CPI activists led by its general secretary K. Ramgopal Reddy, district leaders P. Raju, K. Shoba Rani, Kedari, Manikanta and others arrived at the statue of Telangana armed struggle leader Anabheri Prabhakar Rao and staged a novel protest blindfolded.Neglected lot

They alleged that the government had neglected the Telangana armed struggle leaders such as Anabheri Prabhakar Rao, Baddam Yellareddy and others by not beautifying the statues as part of the Telangana Formation Day celebrations.

Later, they performed milk abhishekam to the statue of Prabhakar Rao and proceeded towards the [olice headquarters to represent the issue to the Minister for Finance.

Bid foiled

However, the police foiled their move by arresting the protesters and shifted them to the police station.

Talking to newsmen, CPI secretary Ramgopal Reddy flayed the State government for neglecting the Telangana armed struggle, who fought for the liberation of Telangana from the clutches of Nizam rulers.

He alleged that the TRS converted the Telangana Formation Day as its party foundation celebrations.
