Bodies of two students who drowned in the Chalakudy river at Athirappilly were recovered on Monday. The dead are Prince, 17, son of Kattukkaran Martin, Ollur, and Godwin, 15, son of Thattil Wilson, of Chiyyaram. Bodies were recovered by fire and rescue force. Prince passed out Plus Two from St. Thomas Higher Secondary School this year and Godwin finished SSLC from Holy Angels School.
The children reached Athirappilly along with their families for a picnic on Sunday afternoon. The children drowned when they were trying to cross the river. Prince was caught in the under current first. Godwin, who tried to rescue Prince, also drowned. Their friends could not save them.
