The Mulbagal Police on Monday arrested four persons accused in the murder of Subramani, a candidate in Balla Gram Panchayat elections.

A team of police made the arrests of miscreants from their hide-out in Bengaluru.

The police gave the names of the accused as Harish, Ganesh, Madhu and Shivu. Subramani was brutally murdered near Mulbagal town on Thursday night triggering tension. As a backlash to the incident, a number of houses and tractors, reportedly belonging to the political rivals of the deceased candidate, were torched in the village on Friday.

The elections to Balla Gram Panchayat will be held on Tuesday (June 2) notwithstanding the death of Subramani.
