‘GIM will be held as scheduled’

Officials from the Industries Department on Friday met up with trade bodies and various Consulates regarding the upcoming Global Investors Meet, the most ambitious venture of the Tamil Nadu government.

Representatives from U.S., U.K., France, Korea, Japan, Malaysia and German Consulates were present at the meeting, said a source, who was present at the meeting. “Assurance was also given that work is moving ahead and GIM will happen as scheduled,” he added.

A senior official in the State Industries Department said, “This is the second meeting. In the last meeting, there were some doubts and questions raised and we have clarified it now.”

On Thursday, representatives from the IT sector met the Industries Department officials. There were discussions on how to make the State the top IT & ITES destination.

The Tamil Nadu government hopes to attract investments to the tune of Rs 1 lakh crore ( $16 billion) from this two-day meet scheduled for September 9 and 10.
