Chief of Air Staff awards the ‘Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (South) Gold Medal' to the best woman trainee to Cadet Surabhi Chopra.
KANNUR: At an impressive Passing-out Parade (POP) held at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala here on Saturday, 320 cadets of the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard passed through the portals of the INA after successfully completing their training. The cadets belonged to the three different courses of the Spring Term, the 88th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) BTech and MSc courses, the 19th Naval Orientation (Extended) Course and the 20th Naval Orientation (Regular) Course. There were a total of 28 female cadets from the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard at the parade.
Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, reviewed the parade. In his address, Air Marshal Raha advised the cadets to turn every challenge into an opportunity and excel in every sphere of life and their profession. “Quality training imparted at INA will enable the passing-out cadets in mitigating any maritime challenge they will face while ensuring the security of the nation,” he added.
Commandant, Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P. and other senior naval officers were also present for the ceremony. The ‘Presidents gold medal’, for the cadet adjudged first in the overall order-of-merit for the INAC course, was awarded to Cadet Captain Kanwarpreet Singh. ‘Chief of the Naval Staff gold medal’ for the cadet adjudged first in overall order-of-merit for the Naval Orientation (Extended) course was awarded to Cadet Neeraj Gupta.
Cadet Arpit Shukla was awarded the ‘Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal’ for the cadet adjudged first in the overall order-of-merit for the Naval Orien-tation (Regular) course and Cadet Surabhi Chopra was awarded the ‘Flag Officer Comma-nding-in-Chief (South) gold medal’ for the best woman trainee in the course. On completion of their training at the Indian Naval Academy, the officers will now proceed to various Naval and Coast Guard ships/establishments.
