With the heatwave continuing in Odisha, the India Meterological Department on Friday forecast that pre-monsoon showers may bring respite from the scorching summer next week.

BHUBANESWAR: With the heatwave continuing in Odisha, the India Meterological Department on Friday forecast that pre-monsoon showers may bring respite from the scorching summer next week.
"We expect pre-monsoon showers soon," said director of IMD, Bhubaneswar, Sarat Sahu.
On Friday, the number of people who have reportedly died due to the heat rose to 108 with 19 more cases coming to the fore.
So far, the government has confirmed only 17 deaths after completion of inquiry in 38 cases.
There was no respite from the heatwave in many parts of the state. Bhawanipatna recorded 45.5 degree Celsius, while the mercury stood at 45 degree Celsius at Titlagarh and Balangir on Friday.
The temperature was 39.7 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar. The heatwave would continue on Saturday, but there is forecast of light rain or thundershower at isolated places.
