3 more arrested in Sayajigunj murder case

Sayajigunj police on Friday arrested three more accused in the brutal murder of Akbar Sheikh (50) on May 8.The accused have been identified as Dilip Sheikh (55), Hamid Sheikh (35) and Aslam Sheikh (30).

VADODARA: Sayajigunj police on Friday arrested three more accused in the brutal murder of Akbar Sheikh (50) on May 8. The accused have been identified as Dilip Sheikh (55), Hamid Sheikh (35) and Aslam Sheikh (30).
"We received information that Dilip, Aslam and Hamid were heading towards Vadodara from Ahmedabad. They were to cross Amitnagar circle. Following the information we kept a watch and arrested the three near the circle," said Sayajigunj police inspector J G Amin.
The three accused were presented before a local court on Friday evening and were remanded to five days in police custody.

Aslam Sheikh, Faruk Chhapra, Hamid Sheikh, Dilip Sheikh and Firoz Shiekh, attacked Akbar with a sword and sharp-edged weapons outside his house in Kalumiya Bhatta of Sayajigunj area. While Akbar died at the spot, his nephew Asif and neighbour Salim Shiekh sustained minor injuries.
Farooq Chhapra was arrested by the police on May 15. According to Sayajigunj police, Chhapra is a history sheeter and around 10 offences have been registered against him at various police stations in the city.
He was also involved in the murder of Akbar's brother Nizammiya Sheikh in February 2004. Firoz Shiekh, the fifth accused in the murder, is still at large.
The police will be interrogating the three accused to track down the location of Firoz.
