Evening rain claims one life
One person was killed and four were injured when a huge tree fell on a bus-stop in Anepalya on Hosur following heavy downpour on Friday evening.

The deceased, aged around 45 years, is yet to be indentified. One of the injured, identified as Fakirappa, was shifted to the St John Hospital for treatment. The fire squad visited the spot and rescued three people from under the tree; they had received minor injuries.
DCP (Central) Sandeep Patil said one person who had got stuck under the tree was rescued while another person died on the spot.
People had parked their bikes nearby and were taking shelter in the bus shelter, he said.
District in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy has announced Rs 1 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased.

20 trees fall
Meanwhile, complaints of uprooted trees due to the downpour was received from from St. Patrick church on Residency road, 19th Main road near Navarang Theatre, Magadi Road, KG Halli near Railway crossing, Kodava Samaj near BBMP qaurters, Shobha hospital near Prashant Nagar, 36th A cross east end main near Jayanagara, Press club, Indira Nagar 80 feet road, Keno theatre, Gupta layout near Ulsoor.
