BJP seeks a full-time principal for PEC

May 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

The Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has urged the government to appoint a full-time principal for the Pondicherry Engineering College here.

In a release, BJP general secretary R.V. Saminathan said the institution had only two full-time principals in the last 20 years. The college also did not have a controller of examinations. The present principal has been serving only on deputation. The college has not been able to take a decision for a full-time principal. This has affected routine dministrative functioning.

The Government should intervene and appoint a full-time principal and controller of examinations as per the directions of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The BJP has urged the government to start post graduate courses in various disciplines and ensure job opportunities for students who pass out of the institution.
