It was an unusual scene at S.G.V. Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital at Bailongal town of Belagavi district recently, when a small group of people brought a body covered with fresh flowers and garlands.

The body of Lalit Karan Bahaddur Shahi (54) was being donated to the college as per his wish.

A Nepal-origin Gorkha, Lalit Karan died in Bailhongal town on May 20. His elder brother Ram Bahaddur Shahi donated the body to the medical college through Dr. Ramannavar Charitable Trust, Bailhongal, for medical education and research, said Dr. Ramannavar here on Monday.

Lalit Karan was a resident of Balankha Village Panchayat of eastern Nepal and was suffering from asthma for the past several years. He had come to his elder brother four months ago but could not recover.

For more information on eye, organ and body donations, contact Dr. Ramannavar on 9242496497.
