45-year-old woman dead as rickshaw falls into pit

A 45-year-old woman was killed on the spot and eight others seriously injured when the auto-rickshaw they were travelling spun out of control and fell into a roadside pit, on Friday. The deceased was identified as Balamani.

The accident happened along the Kamareddy-Yellareddy road under Lingampet police station limits. The victims, belonging to Khanapur village, were returning home after attending a wedding in Tadwai mandal.

Among those injured, the condition of Lakshmi Neeshampally was stated to be serious. She was admitted to the Government Area Hospital at Kamareddy. Others injured included Anasuya, Lakshmavva, Shruthi, Anoja, Anisha and Chaitanya. The driver, Nagaraj, also sustained injuries.

Rash and negligent driving was said to be the reason for the accident. Lingampet Police have registered a case.
