Water released from Manjalar dam

To irrigate lands under old ayacut

Water was released from Manjalar dam for irrigation of old ayacut in Theni and Dindigul districts on Friday. A total of 897 acres – 583 acres in Dindigul district and 314 acres in Theni district – will benefit. PWD officials said that 20 cusecs of water had been released from the dam to irrigate lands under the old ayacut in both the districts. On the whole, 110.56 million cubic feet of water would be released.

Lands in Devadhanapatti, Genguvarpatti and G. Kallupatti in Theni district, and Batlagundu, Kanavaipatti, Kunnuvarayankottai and Sivagnanapuram in Nilakottai block in Dindigul district would benefit. The same quantum of water would be released till July 31.
