SMVDSB provides Rs 1 cr to Katra Municipal Committee for sanitation, developmental activities

KATRA, May 29: Governor, N. N. Vohra, who is Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has approved a financial support of rupees one crore under social responsibility activity scheme of the Board to the Municipal Committee, Katra for undertaking various development works and improving sanitation and other civic amenities for this base town for pilgrimage to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji.
In this context, the Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, handed over a tractor with trolly, a load carrier, 3 water coolers, 25 dust bins, 50 garden benches, 20 wheel barrows, 6.35 quintals of CGI sheets, 70 energy efficient street lights, besides other items to the Administrator, Municipal Committee, Katra, at a function held here today. These items provided by the Shrine Board will meet immediate requirements of the Municipal Committee, Katra. He added that 500 saplings of indigenous and ornamental trees and 500 tree guards are also being provided to the Katra Municipality.
Ajay Nanda, MLA, Reasi, speaking on the occasion, lauded the Shrine Board for providing financial support and equipment to Municipal Committee, Katra for undertaking various development and sanitation activities in Katra town. He added that this would facilitate the pilgrims and the local people at large.
Mr. Sahu stated that the Municipal Committee, Katra has taken up works costing Rs. 69.77 lakh out of the financial assistance provided by the Shrine Board. These include construction of a deep drain/nallah, from Hotel Tridev to Bus Stand, Katra, construction of footpath from Taxi Stand towards Banganga, repair and renovation of lane and drain in Wards No. 1 covering Main Bazaar besides, renovation of black top road at Fountain Chowk and Main Bazar, Katra. He said that all these works are envisaged to be completed by June 2015.
Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, spoke about the initiatives being supported by the Shrine Board for improving sanitation and civic amenities in Katra town.

Mohandaas, Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, who is also Administrator, Municipal Committee, Katra, Pankaj Sharma, Pankaj Gupta, Devinder Singh Bhau and Amit Vermani, Dy. CEOs, Neeraj Gupta, Chief Accounts Officer, Sumir Kotwal, Additional SP, Katra, Rajinder Singh, OSD, Revenue, Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB, Subhash Gupta, Superintending Engineer, prominent citizens, including Harish Dubey, Sham Lal Kesar, Rakesh Wazir, Sher Singh and Surinder Sharma and officers and engineers of the Shrine Board and Municipal Committee, Katra.
