Former Jets QB Matt Simms reunited with Rex Ryan in Buffalo

Matt Simms wasn't unemployed for long. The former New York Jets' quarterback was claimed on waivers Friday by the Buffalo Bills.

It's a good landing spot for Simms, who will have an immediate comfort zone. He will be reunited with former Jets coach Rex Ryan and a handful of ex-Jets assistants, namely quarterbacks coach David Lee, who always had an affinity for Simms.

To make room for Simms, the Bills waived quarterback Jeff Tuel.

Simms isn't a lock to make the team, as they have three veterans on the depth chart -- Matt Cassel, former No. 1 pick EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor. But Manuel is on shaky ground, with rumors that the Bills could be looking to deal him.

Simms requested his release from the Jets after they drafted Bryce Petty and signed undrafted free agent Jake Heaps. Some in league circles expected Simms to land with the Atlanta Falcons, who appeared interested but didn't submit a claim.
