USDA cut total ag exports for 2015 to $140.5 billion.

Sharon Sydow, senior economist for USDA says those numbers are down slightly from February.

She explains where the decreases can be found.  “Projected horticultural exports were lowered by about $1 billion due to slower than expected shipments,” she says.  “Also the exports for livestock, poultry, and dairy exports were lowered by about $500 million.  Dairy exports were projected lower due to strong global competition and poultry forecast were also projected lower due to increased trade restrictions.”

She says on a positive note, USDA also cut the ag import projection by $2 billion, raising the ag trade surplus to $23.5 billion.
