Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has marked an inquiry into the alleged thrashing of Emaan Singh Mann, son of Simranjit Singh Mann, and other SAD(A) workers by the Fatehgarh Sahib police, said Iqbal Singh Tiwana, spokesman for the party.
The alleged incident happened when SAD(A) workers were protesting “peacefully” the installation of electricity towers by Power Grid Corporation at Talania village last week. Tiwana said the towers were being put up on the land of Simranjit Singh Mann and other villagers without any compensation.
He said a delegation of SAD(A) had met the CM and handed him a letter of party president Simranjit Singh Mann highlighting the “atrocities” being committed by the police, particularly the DSP, Fatehgarh Sahib. He said the CM had marked the inquiry to SK Sandhu, Principal Secretary to CM.
He said Power Grid Corporation was a semi-government agency with a turnover of Rs 1,18,431 crore and a profit of Rs 5,000 crore annually, but the company was not giving any compensation.
