Director Gopichand Malineni gives actor Ram a makeover in this film. The young man looks far more lean and handsome and is backed by a light, uncomplicated story and supported by a huge cast. The producer too has left no stone unturned to give the story a glamorous frame. The lyrics of all the songs are surprisingly good and simple, though the music could have been better. Rakul Preet, goes without saying, looks pretty and does her environment conservation role with enthusiasm but it is Sonal Chauhan who steals the show and brings a new dimension to the character. She plays a shrewd businesswoman who is in a hurry to marry someone before she turns 24 as her property is designed to go to a Trust.
The film begins on a dramatic note giving the audience an impression that we are heading towards a serious story but the plot is wafer thin. Since it isn’t enough to round it up, many other characters are introduced. Surprisingly all the characters are justified and the actors fit into their roles well.
Dialogues are populist. For instance the producer swears allegiance to Balakrishna shows a couple of clips from his film with Vennela Kishore thoroughly enjoying them. The only difference is the comedy has been interspersed in such a way that it makes sense and is connected to the track.
Jayaprakash and Sai Kumar play friends and the latter’s sisters get married to the former’s brothers. Jayaprakash wants his sister to marry Sai Kumar but she elopes with her lover and to save her from the ignominy, Sai Kumar says he isn’t inclined towards a marriage with her.
Rakul Preet who plays Jayaprakash’s daughter is in a role conflict and at that point of time the hero who is engaged to Sonal returns to India with an intention of uniting the broken family and marries his cousin. Brahmanandam as Weekend Venkat Rao provides the laughs and so does the bankable JP Reddy. It is a routine family story with peals of laughter coming at regular intervals. It is a good film for Ram who’s been on a low for some time. Rakul continues her dream run as a successful heroine.
The director will be entrusted with more offers to churn out some more template films. The biggest asset is the screenplay.
Sameer Reddy does a neat job. It is a good timepass this summer and Pandaga Chesko seems an apt title for both the producer as well as the audience.
