Soumyajit, Harmeet in second round of Philippines Open

SUBIC BAY: India's top paddlers Soumyajit Ghosh and Harmeet Desai entered the second round of the ITTF World Tour Philippines Open Table Tennis Championship on Friday.
Soumyajit had an easy match as he blanked Yuki Matsuyama of Japan in straight games 11-9 11-7 11-7 11-6 to win 4-0.
Harmeet, who qualified for the main round, also beat a Japanese opponent Ryotaro Ogato 13-11 13-11 11-8 4-11 9-11 11-4 in a hard-fought contest.
Earlier, in the qualifiers, Harmeet defeated Glendo Nayre of Philippines and NG Pak Nam of Hong Kong, to make it to the main round of the men's singles event.
