Court extends bookie's remand by two days

The special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Thursday granted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody of the bookie, Mukesh Sharma, for another two days.

AHMEDABAD: The special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Thursday granted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody of the bookie, Mukesh Sharma, for another two days. Sharma is the alleged kingpin of a Rs 10,000 crore international cricket betting racket. The court has asked ED to produce Sharma by 3.30 pm on May 30. Special public prosecutor Rajesh Kanani, who represented ED, told the court that the intelligence agency had sent Mukesh Sharma's laptop to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
The preliminary report has revealed that several transactions of Sharma with various bookies in the country had been traced. These transactions are needed for investigation. Kanani further said that in the FSL report, it had also been found that Sharma had five more master login IDs for betting website betfair.com through which he used to place bets.
