It was a trip down memory line for music lovers of Bengaluru recently when a group of singers rendered unforgettable melodies at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall.

Organised by the Lions Club International District 317F, ‘Yours Forever’, the sixth edition of Lions Club musical night was a fund-raising programme that was a huge success.

An evening to cherish, the programme was meant to remember the music legends of yore — Mukesh, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. The songs came alive through the voices of artists Mukhtar Shah, Anil Bajpai, Vinod Sheshadri, Neelima Gokhale and Jaya Rajagopal.

The event started with Vinod Sheshadri rendering the popular Kishore Kumar number ‘Dream Girl’ which left the audience thrilled.

With clips of the songs playing in the backdrop, it was a dreamy experience and took one back to the romance of Amitabh Bachchan and dream girl Hema Malini.

The next rendering came from ‘Chennai’s Asha Bhosle’ — Jaya Rajagopal. This was followed by the song ‘Dil ke Paas’ by Anil Bajpai, the performance attracted whistles from the audience who saw Rafi’s voice still alive in Anil.

The songs of Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh were enthralling and many said it was worth an evening out.

For some families, it was indeed a perfect evening out. Ramachandra was seen
enjoying the songs and even humming some of them.

He said, “I listen to all the old songs, whether they are in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and I enjoy all of them. This event was extremely soothing and I enjoyed every bit of it.”
