In a candid interview with People magazine, Tatum O'Neal opens up about her relationship with son Kevin McEnroe. But it's her revelation about her sexuality that will surprise many fans of the Oscar-winning actress.
"I like women," O'Neal, whose new film, "She's Funny That Way," is slated for release this summer, said. "I definitely have been dating mostly women recently."
The 51-year-old star clarified, "I think women are the most amazing creatures on earth. They're gentle, and also more intelligent than the men that I've met recently." Noting that she was currently single, O'Neal nonetheless stopped short of using the terms "lesbian" or "bisexual," simply noting, "I'm not one or the other."
She added that after her much-publicized struggles with drug addiction, she is "the most content I've ever been."
O'Neal was married to tennis ace John McEnroe from 1986 until 1994. The couple had three children: Kevin, 29, 28-year-old Sean and Emily, 24.
In her teens, she was romantically linked to Michael Jackson, though she shrugged off the media scrutiny over the seriousness relationship, telling The Daily Beast in 2011 that the pop icon was "somebody I knew and I did go on a date with, but I don’t know about my first 'public boyfriend.'"
