MANGALURU: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati issued show cause notices to officials, who furnished wrong information in the agenda of a special Council meet held on Thursday.
The second agenda of the special council meet chaired by Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred was related to Premium floor area ratio (FAR). Officials of MCC accounts section had mentioned only Rs 71 crore as total amount collected through premium FAR.
However, corporators including opposition leader Premanand Shetty questioned it. Later, when officials verified files again, they found the total amount of premium FAR collected in the city as Rs 75.87 and the bank interest was Rs 10.15 crore. Officials also brought to the notice of the council that Rs 55 lakh from the premium FAR fund was spent for road development in the city.
Following stiff opposition from BJP corporators from the opposition and also from ruling Congress, the Mayor asked commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati to explain.
Korlapati said, "I have directed officials to issue show cause notice to officials concerned, who erred while preparing the agenda. I have asked them to clarify within four hours. I will take action based on the clarification," she added.
