Man dies in carbon monoxide incident in Bourne
Police officer taken to hospital for evaluation
One man died after being exposed to carbon monoxide in Sagamore, according to police.
Bourne police said officers responded to a report of an unresponsive 62-year-old man who was suffering from carbon monoxide exposure at RDA, Inc., a modular home business on Bluff Road.
The first officer at the scene located the man, identified as company owner Donald Shulman, inside the building near a gas-powered pressure washer that was running.
Officials said the carbon monoxide alarm was activated.
Shulman was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The police officer who responded to the call was also taken to a hospital for evaluation due to the carbon monoxide exposure.
"I can't tell you what a shock. I mean, I saw Don yesterday afternoon and that was it," employee Bill D'Antonio said.
The District Attorney's Office said it appears to be an accident, but an autopsy will be performed.
