Amma cement at one more outlet

Amma Cement would now be available for purchase at the Poomalai complex in the city. The sale, through a self-help group federation, was inaugurated by S.Ramasamy, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency on Wednesday. Consumers can buy a maximum of 50 bags of Amma Cement at the outlet at a time.

Amma Cement is already being sold at 18 places. The cement is being sold through the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation at Subramaniapuram, Irungalur, Musiri, Thuraiyur, Thiruvanaikovil, Thuvakudi, and Manapparai and through the Rural Development Agency at Andhanallur, Manikandam, Tiruverumbur, Marungapuri, Vaiyampatti, Lalgudi, Manachanallur, Pullampadi, Thottiyam, Thathaiyengarpet, and Uppilliyapuram in the district, a release said.

Amma Cement is being sold at Rs. 190 a bag. Consumers building houses can get 250 bags for constructing houses up to 500 square feet; 500 bags for buildings up to 1,000 sq. ft. and 750 bags for houses up to 1,500 sq. ft. For repairs or renovation, 10 to 100 bags can be purchased.

Buyers will have to produce the approved building plan or a certificate from village administrative officer, revenue inspector, panchayat union supervisor or road inspector concerned.

According to a release, about 10,355 tonnes of Amma Cement have been sold through the 18 outlets in the district till May 25.
