Solids Development Consult GmbH Founded As A Spin-Off Of The Pharmaceutical Technology Department Of The University Of Bonn Offering Contracts Services

The Solids Development Consult GmbH has been founded as a spin-off of the Pharmaceutical Technology Department of the University of Bonn. After numerous successful projects with Pharmaceutical Industry, we now offer our services from own laboratories.

Our main competence covers the interface be-tween Pharma and Technology, i.e. the knowledge about interactions between formulations on the one hand and manufacturing equipment and processes on the other hand.

We do concentrate on the field of Solid Dosage Forms, especially regarding their development, optimisation and analysis, including corresponding technologies and measurement techniques.

Solids Development Consult consists of a team of experienced people, working since many years in the field of tableting, wet and dry granulation, instrumentation, process visualisation and evaluation, including scale up/down issues.

Our expert team consists of

• Dr. Rob Lammens having more than 40 years of experience amongst others at the Bayer AG, as freelance consultant and senior lecturer at Uni Bonn,
• Dr.Barbara Fretter having more than 7 years experience as postdoctoral research fellow at Uni Bonn and freelancer,
• Dr. Katharina Freischlad having more than 6 years experience as a scientific assistant at Uni Bonn and freelancer.

Small Scale Development
Format independent characterization of compaction properties of powders from 2 g with a compaction simu-lator (Stylcam® 200R). Dry granulation feasibility studies from 25 g of powder per formulation.

Scale Up
Supporting the scale up from development to large scale production, including performing trials relevant for registration (QbD by DoE), using a MacroPactor 100® roller compactor and a Kilian S100® rotary tablet press.

Trouble Shooting
In high shear and fluid bed and dry granulation as well as in tablet production.

Instrumentation and data acquisition
Realisation of transducers and data acquisition systems at tablet presses, like e.g. (additional) force and displacement measurement systems or real time visualization of tablet production performance at high speed rotary tablet presses.

URS support
We support you upon writing the user requirement specifications for e.g. single stroke and rotary tablet presses and high end roller compactors

In House seminars and presentations
Tailored to your individual needs we perform in house seminars and presentations like e.g. rationally developing tablets and dry granulates at a small scale. Part of these trainings are hands on sessions at your machines, ensuring a better understanding of theory relevant to practical work.

Formulation Coaching
Continuous support regarding questions with respect to galenical projects, e.g. upon interpreting experimental results, designing experiments or preparing documents relevant for registration.

Contract research
In close cooperation, we can perform specific re-search projects in the field of tableting and dry granulation, in which solutions dedicated to your needs will be elaborated. If desired in cooperation with technical universities.
