Indian golf grows, takes IPL route

Top golfers will line up to represent city-based franchise teams at Louis Philippe Cup

New Delhi: Some of the top Asian Tour players, including SSP Chawrasia and Gaganjeet Bhullar, will line up to represent city-based franchise teams at the fourth edition of the Rs 1.2-crore Louis Philippe Cup that returns to the Karnataka Golf Association. This year, the 54-hole tournament to be held from June 11 to 13 will have seven teams unlike nine during the last edition in Mumbai. The organisers have also done away with the knock-out format.

The seven city teams are defending champions Navratna Ahmedabad, TAKE Chennai, DLF The Crest Gurgaon who have gone for a young squad led by rookie Manu Gandas Jaypee Greens Greater Noida, with two members of the 2013 winning Delhi team, new entrants Zion Hills Bengaluru and Dev-Ellora Pune led by Bangladesh star Siddikur and Laqshya Mumbai, to be spearheaded by veteran Jyoti Randhawa.
