Celeb cricketers bump into Puneeth in London
It isn’t always that the celebs of Mollywood get to walk around anonymously and have fun as a gang. But this is exactly what they did during their recent visit to London, where they had gone to take part in a charity cricket match. Among them were Kunchacko Boban, Indrajith, Asif Ali, Saiju Kurup, Unni Mukundan, singers Vijay Yesudas and Nikhil Menon, and others. After the match got over, the gang had two days left for themselves, which they made use of to the fullest.
“As we were watching a street dance, we saw a familiar face across the street. It was none other than Kannada actor Puneet Rajkumar,” says Kunchacko, who was accompanied by his wife, Priya. “I was wondering if he would recognise us but he told me he had watched my film Traffic and liked it.” Puneet left only after spending some time with the team and clicking pictures with them.
And that wasn’t all. The team got to enjoy their anonymity and were one among the crowd; they travelled in the famed London tube, as well as many other landmarks. “With the pound conversion rates, we almost had to mortgage our property to pay for the train tickets. But as we travelled through the streets, I recognised the landmarks as the properties we sell in the Monopoly board game we play. I kept nudging Priya, ‘here’s what you sold me once,’ etc,” Kunchacko laughs. Since food was also expensive, they made most of the complimentary breakfast at the hotel they stayed in, Kunchacko adds. “It was continental but we made the best use of it. Even Unni Mukundan, who is on a diet attacked breakfast with a vengeance,” he recounts.
