Kandla Port Trust gets expansion permission from Gujarat govt

The Kandla Port Trust(KPT) , Kandla has got permission from the Gujarat Government for the expansion under the CRZ(Coastal Regulation Zone) and other environmental regulations. The KPT had applied to the state government in February 2015. After the KPT’s compliance regarding the state government’s objections it gave permission to the KPT for expansion and recommended to Government of India for the permissions at their level.

The KPT in it’s proposal to the Gujarat Government said that, “there is no land acquisition as the land is owned by KPT and proposed activities are within limit of Kandla Port Trust. 11 KLD of water would be required for construction and 8 KLD of water required for domestic use.”

Gujarat Government while recommending to the Ministry of Environment and Forest & Climate Change, Government of India put several conditions like development of Oil jetty to handled liquid cargo and ship bunkering facilities at Old Kandla( Jetty: 300m X15m,Approach: 450mX10m, Back up area: 5.5 ha, Capacity etc.)
