Empowered Committee for CCTNS reviews pace of project, DGP calls for expediting implementation

A meeting of State Empowered Committee (SEC) for implementation of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) Project was held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today to discuss the present status of the project in the State. The meeting was chaired by Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar and was attended by other members of the Committee.Rajendra, at the outset of the meeting, sought details from the members about the progress achieved on different aspects of the project. The meeting was apprised through power point presentation with regard to functioning of different sites in the State. Requirements for the sites making them more result oriented were discussed during the meeting. Detailed deliberations were held and discussed to implement the project comprehensively.

Rajendra, stressing for coordinated efforts among the stakeholders, asked to complete the work on the flood damaged sites, bringing them back on track. He said that digitization of criminal records, which has already been taken into hand should be completed on priority. Efforts should be made to seek permission from the concerned quarters to scan the records, he added.The DGP said that the project is of great importance as it helps in tracking criminal networks and it is imperative to include other modules which could make the project more fruitful in tackling terrorism, human trafficking, drug smuggling and crime mapping. He said that digitization of centres at range level should be accelerated and uninterrupted connectivity at the sites be ensured by the concerned service providing companies.Rajendra interacted with the Zonal Inspectors General of Police through video conferencing and enquired about the pace of work on the project in their respective zones. He said that the pace of work should be monitored at different levels and Range Deputy Inspectors General of Police have also a great role to get tangible results. He asked for ensuring quality equipments already approved, besides providing uninterrupted power supply to the system sites.

Earlier, IGP Crime, Mr. Muneer Ahmed Khan, who is nodal officer for the project gave details about the efforts taken up with other agencies to cover more sites under the project. He said that pace is being followed vigorously to achieve the results.Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGP (Headquarters) SP Vaid, IsGP, HK Lohia  and Mukesh Singh, DPT, Hilal Ahmed, AIsGP, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood and Tahir Sajjad, Project Manager, BC Swain, Consultant Tasaduq  Nazir, Scientist NIC Mujtaba Ahmed Banday, Dy. SP (PHQ), Musadiq Basu and other representatives of different companies.
