Dante Bayern Munich

With Mats Hummels looking like he will be staying at Borussia Dortmund next season, Manchester United have turned their attentions towards another high-profile Bundesliga defender in Bayern Munich's Dante.

The Brazilian has not been in the best of form of late for Bayern, and the German champions are reportedly ready to let go of the centre-back, providing a suitable offer is made.

Manchester United could be the team to make that right bid, with Tuttomercatoweb claiming the English Premier League club have already made "first contact" with Bayern over a summer move for Dante.

The 31-year-old has not quite been his old self since Pep Guardiola took over at Bayern, with that high line just not quite playing to his strengths. Dante was also highly criticised after a couple of Champions League losses for Bayern this season, but he was certainly one of their best defenders when the Germans won the European Cup a couple of seasons back.

While the defender has crossed 30, in a compact defending unit, Dante can still make quite a difference, and it remains to be seen if Louis Van Gaal and Manchester United can negotiate the right fee to get him to move to Old Trafford and play in the Premier League next season.

However, Dante can certainly not be seen as the long-term solution to Manchester United's back-four. Kamil Glik could be that option, though, with Torino admitting the Manchester United target could leave the club for the right price this summer.

United, along with fellow Premier League side Tottenham, have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, and a transfer could come to fruition as long as interested clubs make an early move, before the end of the June to be precise.

"He has a contract until 2017 and he is very valued," Torino president Urbano Cairo told Tuttosport. "If an offer arrives that values him importantly then we'll evaluate it, but by the end of June."
