Today, the last Brazil “Olympic subway train” rolled off the production line in the China CNR Corporation, marking the complete delivery of all the subway trains designed by China CNR for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil. The trains to run on Rio line 4 will arrive directly in the Rio Olympic Village (Oceania Garden Station on line 4) which is under construction. It will create history as Chinese rail transit equipment’s overseas contribution to the Olympic Games.

The Changchun Railway Vehicles Company signed contracts with Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to produce 15 Olympic subway trains for line 4 – a total of 90 carriages - in September, 2013. At the end of last September, the first Olympic train of Rio line 4 rolled off the production line, and Mr. Petro, the project director of Rio line 4 from Brazil’s Rio Metro Inc said, "The performance of the train is so good that we’d like to give it full marks out of ten!”

Premier Li Keqiang has taken two rides on the train in Changchun and Rio in just 40 days. On the morning of May 20 in Brazil, he personally tested the train’s “customer satisfaction” when he had a test ride in an Olympic subway train, accompanied by foreign minister Wang Yi and Chinese ambassador to Brazil Li Jinzhang. Li Keqiang expressed the view that this was a test for China’s equipment manufacturing. Chinese enterprises should guarantee both quality and quantity in completing cooperative projects, ensure timely delivery and operation of trains, continuously develop and produce vehicle equipment meeting the needs of the Brazilian market, work to be the pioneer of China-Brazil production capacity cooperation, and drive more China-made equipment to go global.

“The trains we have designed are adapted to the Brazilian market’s needs and are reliable in operation, which not only makes Brazil one of our largest export markets, but also wins a good reputation for “China-made” throughout South America. We now have a solid base for expanding into other markets in South America,” explained Ma Lie, the deputy general manager of overseas planning department in Changchun Railway Vehicles.
