NASHIK: State PWD minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde will hold a convention of all the zilla parishad and panchayat samiti members in the next 15 days. Suhas Samant, the party’s liaison officer for Dindori constituency, who was in the city on Tuesday, made the announcement. Minister of state for cooperation Dadasaheb Bhuse will also attend the convention.

All the taluka, district chiefs and deputy chiefs would be present for the convention to be held near Dindori. Samant, who met the zilla parishad and panchayat samiti members in the morning, took a review of the issues and about the availability of funds.
“The date of the convention is yet to be decided, but it will take place in a matter of 15 days. The elections are two years away from now. In this backdrop, I took a review of the works done. During the convention, all the elected members will present their problems before the ministers and we will decide how we can win the elections. We are trying to establish our supremacy in the zilla parishad in the next elections. Secular parties have been in power since years and we are trying to oust them,” Samant said.
About the Sena’s alliance with the BJP, Samant said that it would continue unless their ally decides otherwise. “The Shiv Sena has potential in the rural areas. Our ally does not have any hold in these areas. If it chooses not to be with us, then we have the capability to fight the election independently. But I don’t think that would happen because our break-up would benefit other parties,” Samant added.
