Heat wave to continue

May 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Delhiites who spent another day in the hope that clouds would provide some relief from the scorching heat by afternoon were left disappointed as the maximum temperature settled at 45 degrees Celsius.

A little cooler than Monday, which at 45.5 degrees Celsius remains the highest maximum of the season so far, it was still five degrees above normal.

Palam continued to be the hottest area in the city, recording a maximum temperature of 46.3 degrees Celsius.

The heat wave conditions with haze continued to persist and brought down the humidity as well that hovered between 18 per cent and 39 per cent. The minimum was recorded a degree above normal at 28 degrees Celsius.

The weather report released by the Meteorological Department does not forecast any relief as the heat wave is likely to continue for the next 72 hours, with temperatures likely to settle between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius.

According to the weatherman, Wednesday will see mainly clear skies with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to hover around 44 and 27 degrees respectively.
