Fico starts travel portal for industry

LUDHIANA: Industrialists in the city would be able to travel by air at much cheaper price as the Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organization (Fico) has launched its a travel portal for its IamSMEofIndia members.
Through this portal, Fico claimed, members would be able to buy cheaper air tickets, both domestic and international, and book hotels in 160 countries and 10,000 hotels.
FICO president and the state head of the IamSMEofIndia, Gurmeet Singh Kular, said the portal was launched for the convenience of members. "It is being managed by us and is functional round-the-clock for our members. They would be able to get tickets at discounts ranging from 8% to 35%," he said. "This has also brought a lot of transparency in the system as otherwise the agents used to take the advantage of the industry."
He said they had employed five people for taking care of the portal and that business travellers would not have to think twice before planning a trip for better exposure or business deals. "We have many more plans in the works and will be launching them one after another to ensure that Industry gets the best exposure," he said.
Kular said they had started two lean manufacturing clusters for the bicycle industry to reduce wastage in manufacturing systems.
