Girls outshine boys in Patiala, Sangrur

Girls ruled the merit list of PSEB Class X results in Sangrur and Patiala districts, which otherwise recorded second and third highest number of students in the list, respectively.

PATIALA: Girls ruled the merit list of PSEB Class X results in Sangrur and Patiala districts, which otherwise recorded second and third highest number of students in the list, respectively.
Whereas 51 students from various schools secured a place in the merit list in Sangrur, 35 students from Patiala found their names among the toppers.
Notably, 44 out of 51 merit holders in Sangrur and 23 out of 35 toppers in Patiala are girls.

Sangrur saw a pass percentage of 59.54% with 13,961 out of 23,449 students passing the exams.
With 637 marks, Amarinder Kaur of Rishi Public Senior Secondary School, Uppli, bagged the top position in Sangrur. Prachi Sharma and Chirag Singla of Springdale Public School, Sangrur, stood second while Deepshikha, Ramadeep Kaur, Ishan Goel, Venktesh Jain from Springdale Public School, and Kamal Preet Kaur of Rishi Public School, Uppli, shared third position in the district.
Students of Playways High School, Patiala, ruled the merit list taking 16 out of 35 top positions. A total of 25,722 students appeared in Class X exam in Patiala out of which 15,743 (61.20%) were successful.

With 97.53% marks each, Pratibha Joshi and Priya from Playways School topped the Patiala district. They stood overall 13th in Punjab. With 97.38%, Davinder Kaur of Sardar Hira Singh Khurmi DAV Public School, Kularan, secured third position in the district.
BOX: Amritsar has highest pass percentage
Amritsar district recorded the highest pass percentage in the state. Deputy commissioner Ravi Bhagat said Amritsar has topped the state with 86.18% pass percentage. A total of 31,802 students had appeared in the exams out of which 27,407 passed. Barnala has the lowest pass percentage in Punjab at 51.2%.
