Preetam Singh, a student from SVMHS, Srinagar, Pauri, has topped the class Xth scoring 98.20 per cent in the Uttarakhand Board of School Education examinations. Anjali from New Tehri and Kajal from Haridwar, who scored 95.20 per cent in the science stream, jointly stood first in the Uttarakhand board class XII examinations. The results of both classes were announced today.

As per officials, the pass percentage in the class XIIth exams was 74.54, in the class Xth exams 70.68 pass percentage was registered. Preetam Singh, a student of SVMHS, Srinagar, Pauri, topped the class Xth exam in the state scoring 98.20 per cent. Preetam's father Dinesh Singh Gusain is a police constable posted at the Kotwali in Srinagar. He dedicated his success to his parents and teachers. He said hard work was the only tool to score high percentage. He had never thought of securing the first position but had been working hard to perform well in the board examinations.

Anjali from New Tehri and Kajal from Haridwar both scored 95.20 per cent marks in the science stream to top the Class XIIth board examinations.

RK Kunwar, Director of the Uttarakhand Board of School Education, said 1,73,226 students had appeared in the class Xth exam while 1,45,914 students took the class XIIth board examination this year.

The board had constituted 1,302 centres across the state to conduct the examinations. It had declared 252 exam centres as sensitive and 34 centres as highly sensitive.

He said the board was committed to providing quality education and related facilities to students and teachers.

Kunwar said girls performed better than boys in both class Xth and XIIth examinations. The pass percentage of girls was 76 per cent while 65 per cent of boys cleared the class Xth exams this year.

Pankaj, Poonam shine in Mussoorie  

Mussoorie: Pankaj Das from Vidhyamandir School and Poonam from Mussoorie Girls Inter College secured the top positions in the High school and Class XII exams conducted by the Uttarakhand Board. Pankaj Das secured 92.2 per cent marks in Class X, while Pooja Rawat  from the same school got 91.4 per cent marks. 

Gaurav Kumar stood third with 86 per cent marks, Sumit Bhandari secured the fourth position with 84 per cent marks and Kaajal Tamta stood fifth with 80 per cent marks.

Mussoorie Girls Inter College Poonam topped with 74.4 per cent marks in Class XIIth while Himdari from the same school stood second with 74 per cent marks. Afsana with 73 per cent marks and Pooja Sindhwal with 72.2 per cent marks stood third and fourth respectively.

Priya Rawat of Class X, a student of Mussoorie Girls inter college topped her school with 68.2 per cent marks.   Nisha Jahan Ansari from Nirmala Inter College topped the school with 79.2 per cent marks while Kumar Bharti with 69.80 per cent marks stood second and Abhishek Rawat with 66.2 per cent marks stood third. Monica Sajwan of St Lawrence School (Class10) got the first position with 73.2 per cent marks while Klapna with 73 per cent marks stood second, Ankita Rawat with 71.6 per cent marks stood third and Neelam stood fourth with 70.45 per cent marks.

Ritu of Sanatan Dharm College got 88 per cent marks and Ankita with 82 per cent marks stood first and second respectively in Class X.

Ghanand Government Inter College Class X student Kaajal stood first with 61 per cent marks. Saurabh from RN Bhargav School stood first with 64 per cent marks and Rita Joshi from MGVS School stood first with 63 per cent marks.

Despite odds, Kajal gets 95.2% in intermediate

Against all odds, Kajal, who belongs to a poor family, also joined the league of winners by scoring 95. 2 per cent in Uttarakhand Board (Intermediate) examinations, the results of which were declared here on Tuesday. 

She is a student of BHEL-based Saraswati Shishu Mandir.

Principal all praise for her

Principal, Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Uday Raj Chauhan praised Kajal for her dedication and simplicity. She said Kajal was a hardworking girl and she would reach zenith in her life.

Ajeet topper in Tehsil area 

Mangalore: Ajeet Kumar, a student of Nehru National Intermediate College, Mangalore, has topped in the Tehsil area by securing 83.4 per cent in the intermediate examinations. Hailing from Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh, Ajeet’s father Manoj Kumar works in a factory. Ajeet dedicated his success to God, hard work, the blessings of parents and teachers. — TNS
