KANPUR: A man was allegedly killed in celebratory firing during 'Tilak' ceremony in Govindpur area of the district late on Monday night.
Satish Pal son of Kailash, a resident of Panchampurwa Bithoor suffered serious injuries when one Narendra Pal opened fire from his licensed DBBL gun of 12 bore during the `Tilak' function late on Monday night in Govindpur under the limits of Bithoor police station, police said.

Satish was rushed to a hospital but he succumbed to injuries, they said.
The police have arrested Narendra for shooting and killing Satish with a licensed weapon from Tiwaripur village in Maharajpur police area of the district.
According to SP Rural, Narendra was arrested for firing from his .12 bore DBBL gun and killing the guest Satish at a `Tilak' function at the house of one Prem Shanker in Govindpur village under Bithoor Police station on Tuesday.
"We have arrested Narendra from the village," said Station House Officer Jaswant Singh.
The Police has made it clear that stringent sections of the law will be applied in the cases of celebratory firing. "We have charged the accused under Section 302 (murder) of IPC along with sections of the Arms Act. He has been sent to jail," said SSP Shalabh Mathur.
Several incidents of celebratory firing have been reported in recent past which forced police to take action against offenders.
