- Acquisitive British broadcaster ITV (OTCPK:ITVPF) has reportedly called off a $950M pursuit of the television unit of The Weinstein Co., in part because it would be hard to separate from the Weinstein film unit, and ITV has no interest in a film expansion.
- ITV shareholders also apparently expressed concerns about the ability to keep co-founder Harvey Weinstein with the company over a seven-year employment contract.
- The move would have been a break with ITV's recent acquisitions of unscripted production firms to add a strong presence in scripted TV.
