CIVIL PLATFORM “DEMNITATE SI ADEVAR” CALLS CITIZENS TO TAKE PART IN RALLY ON JUNE 7

CIVIL PLATFORM “DEMNITATE SI ADEVAR” CALLS CITIZENS TO TAKE PART IN RALLY ON JUNE 7 The Civil Platform “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] has called upon citizens of Moldova to come out for a rally of protest on June 7, and upon the authorities – not to hamper the popular will expression.

Platform activist Vasile Nastase said at a news conference at Infotag today that the DA is inviting citizens for a peaceful meeting “for a legitimate and constitutional removal from power of the oligarchic clans that have seized everything in this country”.

The rally organizers are going to inform the public about how the authorities are fulfilling the resolution adopted at an analogous rally held last May 3, and how the investigation of ‘the theft of the century’ – the bank theft scandal – is advancing.

According to the DA activists, the June 7 rally will discuss the possibility of forming voters’ councils in populated areas; will adopt a resolution on the forthcoming local elections; will take a decision on setting up an organizing committee for the holding of a National Assembly of Dignity and Justice in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau on August 27.

DA member Vasile Zgardan stated that the rally of protest is not the Platform’s whim or enterprise – it is the reflection of Moldova citizens’ discontent.

He called upon the law enforcement to ensure public order during the future rally and never to forget that the police serve to the people of Moldova and receive their salaries from the taxes paid by citizens, not from certain political parties.

Dinu Plangau, leader of the pro-Romania movement Tinerii Moldovei [The Young of Moldova], stated that the incumbent authorities “have betrayed the youth who struggled for freedom on April 7, 2009. These authorities do not differ from those before 2009. What is going on in Moldova is but a crime”.

The news conference participants believe that “only by uniting efforts and coordinating actions it is possible to restore the dignity and justice stolen by the oligarchic authorities”.
