Keen on improving your baking? Now you can buy Mary Berry’s house for €1.1m

The famous baker, known for her disapproval of soggy bottomed cakes, has placed her four-bedroom period home on the British market after almost ten years.

Predictably, one of the home’s top features is Berry’s large bright kitchen which is installed with a double electric oven, a large stainless steel fridge and freezer and a traditional blue Aga perfect for whipping up a cake or two if desired.

Yet the baking queen revealed that the local town Salcombe is a great foodie hub.

“Of course, if you don’t want to cook, there are great restaurants in town,” Berry told The Telegraph.

“What’s nice about Salcombe is that it is easy for families – you can go out even with very young children and eat at 5pm. So if you don’t want to cook, you don’t need to.”

On the property’s patio, The Berrys have installed a built-in barbecue for those long summer evenings filled with family gatherings and dinner parties.

“We like the garden because it’s low-maintenance, but there’s plenty of space both to the front and back for entertaining, or for the children to spend outdoors,” she said.

The cake judge, who is based in Buckinghamshire UK, revealed that she is searching for a holiday home closer to the sea to accommodate her family’s passion for sailing.

“The children want moorings – we’re waiting to see what we can find,” she said.
