CBSE class 12th result 2015 is out and for 18-year-old Saurabh Bhambri, his trip to Mussoorie became even more joyous as he heard the news that he bagged second position in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class XII exams.
Saurabh, student of humanities at KR Mangalam World School in GK-II, shares his position with two others in the CBSE result 2015 list, scoring 495 marks.
A national champion in ice skating, Saurabh idealises former prime minister Indira Gandhi. Unlike most of today’s youth who refrain from taking interest in politics, Saurabh dreams of entering Indian politics and also work with the United Nations.
“Politics is the best medium to serve the country and the younger generation can bring in new ideals and mould it in a way for the betterment of the country.
“I want to study Politics and International Relations in United Kingdom,” he said over phone.
When asked about his views on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saurabh sounded diplomatic like a politician and said, “I am neither pro or anti Modi. As the Chief Minister of Gujarat, obviously he has worked a lot. But as PM, it is too early to comment.
“But I like the way he is representing India abroad and changing perception of India among foreign nations,” he said.
At a time when most of the students claim to have burnt midnight oil before the exams, South Delhi resident Saurabh says that he had devoted not more than four to five hours each day for studies. He also said that there was no pressure from his parents.
Interestingly, Saurabh claims to have not taken private tuition other than guidance from school teachers.
Saurabh’s father is a businessman and his mother is an academic co-ordinator in the school he studied. Apart from studies, Saurabh is an avid drummer and takes classes for it.
“I want to perform with a music band in the future,” said Saurabh, who is also a national champion in ice skating and black belt in Tae Kwondo.
Giving credit for his success to his parents and teachers, Saurabh said that his inspiration is his sister who is an archaeology student at Oxford.
Archana Sagar, principal of KR Mangalam World School, described Saurabh as an outgoing person.
“This was sheer hard work of the child, backed by a talented and dedicated team of teachers and a supportive management. Saurabh’s parents had complete trust in the school and the teachers left no stone unturned.
“Saurabh is an outgoing person who enthusiastically took part in all activities. He was the head boy of my school during 2014-15. He is an all-rounder, a good orator, actor and athlete. We are proud of him,” said Sagar.
Also, among the three students sharing the second rank, is Mythili Mishra (17) a student of Amethi International School in Noida.
Mythili said she was never pressurised by her parents to study for extra hours and studied as per her own convenience.
