'I'm no ladies man, I'm devoted to my girlfriend of 20 years', says RTE's Marty Morrissey

The RTE presenter, who famously revealed he has a crush on Irish model Georgia Salpa and also tried to interview catwalk legend Cindy Crawford while covering the 2008 Beijing Olympics for the station, said that his smooth talking persona is down to his fun-loving personality.

"Look, I love a bit of fun, having a bit of craic. I have never met Georgia Salpa and I only saw the back of Cindy Crawford. I wouldn't consider myself a ladies' man, far from it.

"I enjoy people, male and female, and enjoy all the banter but that is just my personality."

Despite being one of the most recognisable faces on Irish television, the GAA guru doesn't see himself as being famous.

"I don't entertain the whole celebrity thing and I wouldn't see myself as one," he said.

Marty, who previously worked as a teacher, said that working on TV and radio was never part of his plan. "I thought RTE and broadcasting was for others and not for me," he admitted.

The TV star also said he sees the funny side to comics Oliver Callan and Mario Rosenstock impersonating him.

"I was surprised when it first started, to be honest, but don't they say that imitation is the highest form of flattery," he told the RTE Guide.

Marty's RTE colleague Joe Brolly landed in hot water over the weekend after he called the commentator "ugly" on the Sunday Game.

Speaking about Cavan's style of football, Brolly said, "Somebody said it's as ugly as Marty Morrissey, their football.

"Maybe I should apologise to the people of Cavan," he added.

However, the GAA pundit quickly backtracked on his comments after receiving backlash on social media.

"I want to say that what I said about Marty Morrissey was said in a spirit of affection, not literally," he said.
