New Delhi: As the government it leads celebrates one year in office, the BJP today declared an all-out war on the Congress. "The biggest achievement is restoring confidence of the people in the government," said BJP chief Amit Shah.

Here are the 10 big developments in this story:

  1. Mr Shah trashed the Congress-led UPA government that preceded the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, as he listed the latter's achievements in the last one year.

  2. "This is a visible government, the earlier the government needed to be found," Mr Shah said, and also, "This government has restored the pride of the Prime Minister's Office." In the Congress regime, the BJP chief alleged, "The PM was no PM."

  3. Mr Shah counted the "rooting out of corruption," an uplift of the economy and strengthening of the federal structure as key achievements of the Modi government in its first year. "Modiji has put forth a new idea of team India where the Centre and the states are part of the same team," he said.

  4. Mr Shah's press conference is part of a massive outreach that the BJP has planned to showcase its governments achievements. Ministers and top leaders will address rallies and press conferences in many cities all this week.

  5. Over the next one month, 350 specially designed mobile vans will tour all 643 districts of the country to showcase the government's initiatives through audio-visual clips.

  6. This morning, PM Modi tweeted, "Share your thoughts using #SaalEkShuruaatAnek & get a personal message from me! Looking forward to hearing from you."

  7. The PM also tweeted links to a new section on his website www.narendramodi.in, also titled SaalEkShuruaatAnek (one year, many beginnings).

  8. In an open letter to citizens published in top newspapers today, the PM called himself the country's "pradhan sevak" and wrote that he has "devoted every moment of every day, and every element of my body and spirit to fulfil my responsibility."

  9. At a mega rally in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh on Monday, which began the first-year celebrations, PM Modi attacked the Congress and its Rahul Gandhi and said, "They are screaming because Delhi's power circle has been busted," adding, these are "Achche din for many, burey din for some... and it will get worse for those who were corrupt and looted the country.

  10. The PM, whose reforms agenda has been labelled "anti-poor" and "anti-farmer" by the opposition, made no mention of his reform measures or achievements in his foreign policy. He focused exclusively on the poor and farmers and what his government was doing for them.
