From Li Keqiang to Chetan Bhagat: PM Narendra Modi's first year in selfies

Last year when Narendra Modi launched his campaign for the general election, he took to social media with vengeance.

The primary target were the youth of the country who are very active online, especially in the urban regions. Modi tweeted about his campaign, policies and various visits.

And while searching for love in the hearts of the youth, Modi found love in taking selfies.

Yes, our Prime Minister loves taking selfies. It might be a part of his aggressive PR, but even if it is, the man’s doing a fine job pretending.

Hundreds of selfies have been uploaded on the internet in the first year of PM Modi in the office, many by the prime minister himself, many more by people who had a chance to click a one with him.

In January, the Modi government even launched a ‘Selfie with Modi’ campaign in Delhi before the local elections. Selfie booths were set up across Delhi where people had a chance to take a picture and then PM Modi would appear digitally in the picture using a smartphone app. The craze has only escalated since.

And finally, perhaps the most powerful selfie of his term so far.
